The Assistant Director of the Mississippi State University Research and Technology Corporation (RTC) will support the Director in leading the Thad Cochran Research, Technology & Economic Development Park and the Mississippi State University Research and Technology Corporation. This position will report to the Director and will have significant responsibilities in budgeting and financial management and maintenance oversight related to park development, industry partnerships, and technology transfer initiatives and management of RTC owned buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with collaborating with economic developers at regional, state, and national levels to market the research park to high-tech companies, investors, and developers, aiming to attract new businesses and foster economic growth.
2. Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans to expand the research park, manage infrastructure, and attract investment from businesses, investors, and developers.
3. Work closely with MSU partner companies to facilitate their establishment and growth in Mississippi, promoting collaborations and technology transfer initiatives.
4. Help with promoting the development of new businesses and industries based on technology developed by MSU, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
5. Support the development or incubation of new companies and support the expansion of existing companies within the research park, providing necessary facilities, resources, and support services.
6. Support marketing efforts for the research park, including developing marketing materials, speaking engagements, and industry recruitment activities.
7. Support the coordination with administrators on licensing technology, university extension programs, and technology transfer efforts, ensuring effective utilization of intellectual property developed at MSU.
8. Manage and oversee multi-million dollar budgets related to research park development, infrastructure improvements, tenant agreements, operational expenses, building construction, building renovation and grant funding. This includes budget planning, monitoring expenditures, financial reporting, compliance with funding requirements, and strategic allocation of resources to support the mission and goals of the research park and university.
9. Ensure federal and state compliance for activities, assist with overseeing grants and contracts related to park development, building construction and technology transfer, and assist with decisions impacting current and future tenants.
10. Support collaborations with academic, industry, government, and public stakeholders, fostering productive relationships and advancing the mission of the research park and university.
11. Budget development for large scale projects and working with external auditors.
12. Working with architects and contractors on overseeing construction projects.
13. Managing the maintenance of RTC owned buildings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field
At least 5 years of related experience such as project oversight.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, economics, or a related field.
Proven track record of working on multi-million dollar projects.
Efficient in QuickBooks
Grant and contract administration (State and Federal)
Grant and contract writing
Budget Development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to work in an unstructured environment, navigate complex challenges, and drive innovative solutions.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• No or very limited physical effort required.
