Position Function:
The technical writing lecturer is under the administrative supervision of the Dean of the Bagley College of Engineering but reports directly to the Technical Communications Coordinator. This is a part-time, non tenure-track 9-month position. Duties include teaching technical writing courses, supervising tutors, and assisting faculty in enhancing the communication-related content in the engineering curriculum.
Salary Grade: UC
For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach technical writing.
2. Assists engineering faculty in enhancing the writing and speaking in the courses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in English or other writing discipline with experience teaching writing at the college level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching, including implementing active learning strategies.
• Ability to grade writing for grammar and mechanics, as well as a conciseness and clarity.
• Knowledge of learning management systems, such as Canvas.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Limited physical effort required.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
