The postdoc is expected to research harnessing interdisciplinary methods to improve grain crop resilience under different Mississippi production conditions. The successful applicant will design and coordinate experiments using growth chambers, greenhouses, and field facilities. The candidate must have advanced agronomy, physiology, and sound statistical skills to analyze large datasets. The selected applicant is expected to experiment with other multi-disciplinary team members.

The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to an ONR sponsored research project that examines air-sea-wave processes that relate to momentum flux variability in the tropical cyclone environment. The successful candidate will conduct and analyze numerical sensitivity modeling experiments utilizing the Navy’s coupled tropical cyclone modeling system and other coupled modeling systems to verify against field observations to identify momentum exchange processes that influence tropical cyclone intensity change. The postdoc will be based at the Northern Gulf Institute at Mississippi State’s campus and have access to MSU High Performance Computing Collaboratory supercomputing servers to conduct experiments. Funding is available for 18 months with opportunity for extension. Funds for conference travel are included. Anticipated start date of August 2024 with some flexibility.
