The Associate Director for Research is a full-time position located at MSU Main Campus. This position is responsible to the Executive Director for managing, overseeing, and technically reviewing research scope, data collection, execution, and evaluation of all ASSURE related research and projects, conducted by the 30 ASSURE universities and the over 100 business partners, for the FAA, NASA, DOD, other agencies, and Industry customers. Supervises the stakeholder team to develop and prioritize research requirements and teams, coordinates with the Deputy Director the development of proposals and associated budgets and further assists in the capture of research grants and contracts. Leads a team of project coordinators in planning, execution, and review of research. Develops and maintains technical understanding of all ASSURE universities’ and partners’ capabilities, identifies opportunities for employment of these capabilities and recommends solutions and teaming to capture opportunities and solve problems. Provides technical expertise and guidance to all partners related to general aviation and UAS. In addition, this position will utilize this expertise to create strategic planning and vision for the future of ASSURE.
