The Transportation Events Operations Coordinator coordinates parking operations for campus athletic and special events as well as, assists in normal day-to-day parking operations and enforcement activities.

Salary Grade:  12

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 1. Maintains situational awareness of daily events and campus activities that affect Transportation.
    2. Assist in the inspection of assigned areas to insure completion of work assignments for all parking officers.
    3. Coordinates parking operations for campus athletic and special events, including pre- and post-game/event traffic flow and parking, and equipment set-up and removal.
    4. Coordinates event/game operation planning, personnel booking and scheduling, operational assignments, and the execution of approved game/event plans.
    5. Coordinates the planning and operational logistics for athletic, special events and parking and traffic plans.
    6. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and assist inventory management.
    7. Maintain and coordinate a student worker crew.
    8. Coordinates with Parking Supervisor with day-to-day parking needs, including enforcement, access and revenue control gate maintenance and management, motorist assist, etc.
    9. Assist with monitoring, maintaining, and improving our campus parking, traffic, and wayfinding signage.
    10. Develops and maintains comprehensive physical planning and review process for property, utility infrastructure, and building utilities, which serves to guide and facilitate the changing requirements of the University.
    11. Other parking duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Post high-school training in trade or junior college.

Valid Driver’s License.

Experience (yrs.) 2 years of experience in work environment with similar job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with focus on traffic control, logistics, customer service, project/event management or like discipline highly preferred.
• 4 + years in large event management/parking management.
• 1+ years of supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skill in operating computer and applicable applications required such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe and other software products.
• Good customer service skills.
• The ability to work well with others and foster cooperative work environment.
• Good organizational skills.
• The ability to work well under pressure and in adverse situations.
• Good written and verbal communications skills.
• Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc.
• Extremely imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control, interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, reaching, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling/talking, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Vision requirements: ability to see information in print and/or electronically
• Hearing requirements: Heavy telephone contact requires ability to hear and respond to telephone conversations
