This position will serve as the senior Network Analyst, Network Infrastructure lead for the Mississippi Cyber Initiative facility at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. In this role, the individual has responsibility for managing the Local Area Networks associated with this MCI facility. Including the planning, design, configuration/installation/operations, analysis, acquisition, development, implementation, quality assurance, and management of its networked systems. The candidate will assess and develop policies and procedures governing the MCI network. Additionally, the candidate will assist the senior technical manager on contract and budget activities related to the MCI network.

Network Infrastructure Lead

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Install, configure, and monitor MCI Network infrastructure components such as routers, , firewalls, switches, wireless controllers, servers, etc.
2. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots essential network services such as DNS and DHCP.
3. Develop and maintain custom applications, utilities, and scripts.
4. Develops and implements configuration management plans which ensure optimization of connectivity outside the facility.
5. Evaluate, test, and recommend new network hardware and software.
6. Provide technical support and guidance to the other divisions within Information Technology Services and to the MCI facility.
7. Monitors the operation of networks and ensures that hardware and network operating software are functioning properly and meeting operations standards.
8. Performs system backups to ensure expedient restoration of the respective network equipment.
9. Ensures network survivability by developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
10. Assists in establishing and implementing short- and long-range goals.

Supervisory Responsibility
May supervise other employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience (yrs.): 5+ years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Substitution allowed:
Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Supervisory experience over a technical staff
CompTIA Network+
Cisco CCNA
Microsoft certifications in Windows Server and Windows Client
Experienced in VMWare Data Center Virtualization and VMWare Network Virtualization

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Excellent knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining networks that support functional requirements.
2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols of a network environment.
3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems.
4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing an IT network.
5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems.
6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
7. Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate orally and in writing.
8. Self-motivated and goal oriented

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Requires lifting of IT and network devices. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
3. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
4. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
5. Hearing requirements: Ability to hear and respond to all forms of conversations.
