Position Function:

This position sets up, operates, and manipulates medical, multimedia, computer, and other related equipment used for patient care simulation exercise in courses to create a virtual healthcare setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate and provide technical assistance with simulation and medical-related audio-video
systems.
2. Provide technical assistance, support, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use
of simulation and medical equipment, as necessary.
3. Conduct ongoing maintenance of all medical and simulation equipment, including cleaning,
repairing, and assuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order.
4. Set up and take-down simulators, medical equipment, and supplies for all sessions. May
lead in teaching-related activities.
5. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates.
6. Maintains the cleanliness of the facility and equipment and assists user of the facility during
training sessions.
7. Maintain current knowledge of simulation and medical equipment catalogs and operation
manuals.
8. Compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: May be responsible for training, assisting, or assigning tasks to others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum: Associates Degree in Healthcare or related field and 2 years of experience in healthcare.

Substitutions: Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resource Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an educational setting and/or experience in Technology.
Current valid certification in a health-related field such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Previous full-time, paid experience in direct patient care.
Training and/or experience with patient simulation equipment and related multimedia equipment is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent communication skills.
Ability to maintain and project professional image of the simulation center.
Strong organizational and managerial skills.
Understanding of patient care simulation technologies and applications.
Familiarity with medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology.
Ability to use the features and capabilities of basic multimedia equipment.
Understanding of basic inventory and material storage procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion.
Frequent-Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions
influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few
days; travel or irregular hours often anticipated; meeting of deadlines and coordination of
unrelated activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions
involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically, ability to distinguish colors.
