This part-time position assists with the development and creation of a birth to 5-year-old early childhood curriculum and professional development as part of the My Mississippi Adventures project in MSU’s School of Human Sciences. This project focuses on providing early childhood centers across Mississippi with a year-long, research-based, learning-in-context curriculum. The incumbent will work in concert with faculty and staff to fulfill a variety of tasks related to grant objectives.

Salary Grade:  13

Anticipated Appointment Date:

May 16, 2024. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop developmentally appropriate early childhood activities that align with MS early learning standards.
2. Coordinate with faculty, staff, project consultants, and external writers in the management of data collection and data management activities throughout the project timeline.
3. Work in close concert with the Project PIs and project staff in designing and coordinating educational materials for the classroom and assisting with connecting the classroom with the home.
4. Perform and/or coordinate activities in compliance with the terms of the grant/contract.
5. Aid in locating community resources for early childhood professionals in Mississippi.
6. Perform other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education - Desired: Master’s Degree in Child- or Family-Related Discipline from an Accredited University.

Experience - Desired: 2 years of experience in a setting directly related to the duties of the position.

• Research/application experiences related to typical and atypical development in early childhood.
• Experience with Canva, Canvas, Doodly, and/or other software tools for design and interactive programming.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Strong written and oral communication and organization skills.
2. Knowledge and skills to apply in the early childhood classroom.
3. Ability to contribute to a cooperative work environment.
4. Strong demonstration of working in team settings.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. No or very limited physical effort required.
4. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
