The Digital Marketing Coordinator is a professional, collaborative member of the MSU CVM with strong organizational skills. A top priority for the new coordinator is optimizing the MSU CVM web site (https://www.vetmed.msstate.edu/) so that it provides information on educational offerings, the student, faculty, staff, intern, and resident experience, research, clinical services, and diagnostic laboratory services. The coordinator will also be tasked with generating a monthly electronic newsletter for the MSU CVM and overseeing production of electronic bulletins by units within the college. They will develop and implement marketing plans that include social media strategies. The Digital Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the CVM Dean and works with the CVM Outreach Director and CVM Media Specialist. For the MSU CVM to advance and grow, a Digital Marketing Coordinator is needed to work directly with the CVM Dean to develop the MSU CVM web site, create electronic newsletters, and implement digital marketing plans. The coordinator will align MSU CVM digital marketing with that of DAFVM and Mississippi State University. They also work with the MSU Chief Marketing Officer to ensure that the MSU CVM is represented in university-wide marketing.

Department Profile:

The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM) operates within the university’s Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine (DAFVM). The MSU CVM offers veterinary, veterinary technology, and graduate degree programs, conducts research, and serves the state of Mississippi by operating veterinary medical centers and diagnostic laboratories. In addition to its main facilities in Starkville, the MSU CVM operates diagnostic laboratories in Pearl and Stoneville and the Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Flowood. Research and teaching activities also take place on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

--Develops and maintains the MSU CVM web site, with technical support provided by Information Technology Services.
--Produces a monthly electronic newsletter for the MSU CVM and oversees production of electronic bulletins by other units within the college.
--Develops and implements marketing plans for the MSU CVM and its clinical and diagnostic services, including social media campaigns.
--Aids in the development and deployment of comprehensive university marketing plans and works with the MSU Chief Marketing Officer and the Vice President for Strategic Communications.
--Submits CVM materials to the MSU Office of Public Affairs Hub review platform, ensuring quality of external marketing and advertising and adherence to brand guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

--Bachelor’s degree in broadcast or digital journalism; marketing; communication; public relations or related field.
--Minimum 2 years of experience in performing duties related to the above

Preferred Qualifications:

--Experience in higher education setting.
--Demonstrated success in writing and managing the production of social/digital media content.
--Photography and video production skills.
--Ability to work both in a team setting and independently.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

--Expertise in researching, gathering and executing content for social/digital platforms.
--Ability to work on multiple assignments and projects at one time while meeting important deadlines.
--Self-motivated and meticulous.
--Excellent skills in writing, proofreading, and editing digital content; software use including the Adobe Suite; and editing short form cell phone video suitable for social media.
--Ability to manage competing requests and complex information.
