Provides a broad range of fiscal activities for the Department of Athletics and assists the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations with the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Business Office.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Secondary supervisor of the day-to-day functions of the ABO. Primary supervisor in absence of Associate AD.
2. Directly supervise Director of Business Operations and 1-2 Assistant Directors of Business Operations.
3. Primary oversight of all revenue accounting and tracking including deposits and monthly sales tax submissions.
4. Primary oversight of all procurement activities with a specific focus on game contracts, team travel contracts, and other major contracts.
5. Perform and ensure the proper execution of all accounting activities within the Athletic Business Office.
6. Oversee the disbursement of student-athlete financial aid.
7. Secondary role in the annual budget preparation (Revenue Focus).
8. Secondary preparer of NCAA and EADA Annual Reports (Revenue Focus).
9. Signature authority on athletic department petty cash account.
10. Assist Senior Associate AD/CFO with multi-year financial analysis and capital project financial operations.
11. Other financial analysis projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Sports Management, or related field with three (3) years of experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, Public Administration, or Sports Administration.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
3. Five or more years of related experience.
4. Experience in EADA/NCAA reporting.
5. Demonstrates ability to explain, advocate, and express facts and ideas in a convincing manner.
6. Proven ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both orally and written.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of constituents.
8. Strong critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to prepare financial reports.
• Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment.
• Ability to perform accounting procedures.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
• Account reconciliation skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• No unusual physical requirements.
• Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
