The Li Laboratory at the Department of Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University (http://biology.msstate.edu/people/staff.php?id=ll1230) is seeking candidate to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position, to begin immediately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant is expected to advance the basic research and applied research in Li Lab projects to study the QQS (Qua Quine Starch, AT3G30720) orphan gene and its network (TRQA1, AT1G47400) in regulation of plant metabolism, focusing on identification of proteins that interact with known starch regulatory network, or candidate proteins of the starch regulatory network, functional characterization of candidate proteins, and elucidation of protein-protein interactions. Possible biochemical approaches include, but are not limited to, crop genetics, molecular genetics, genome editing, protein expression and purification, protein structure determination, yeast-two-hybrid screening, protein-protein interaction assays, Chip-sequencing, co-immunoprecipitation and tandem affinity purification. Signal transduction and/or bioinformatics expertise is needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD in biochemistry, biology, chemistry or a related field is required to work for NSF Award 2238942: https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2238942. Publication record should demonstrate expertise in protein functional and structural characterization.
