Position Function:

The Assistant Director for Recruiting and Events serves under the administrative supervision of the Director of Student Recruitment and Events for the College of Business. Primary roles of the position are to (1) Recruit undergraduate students to the college, (2) Plan, coordinate, and assist with college and Department events, and (3) Develop and implement strategies to recruit high-achieving undergraduate students to the college.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Identify high-achieving prospective students.
2. Engage with high-achieving prospective students through innovative avenues.
3. Provide detailed information and personalized guidance about the College of Business, its programs, and the benefits for high-achieving students.
4. Collaborate with academic units in the college and the MSU campus.
5. Coordinate on and off campus recruiting.
6. Maintain relations with MSU Career Center, Office of Admissions. Financial Aid & Scholarships, Housing, Office of Public Affairs, etc.
7. Address and refer inquiries and information requests from faculty, students, and parents or guardians.
8. Coordinate campus visits with prospective students and parents or guardians.
9. Maintain prospective student contact files and databases.
10. Assist with student orientation sessions.
11. Collaborate with the Dean's office staff to plan and coordinate events for students, alumni, and donors.
12. Coordinate recruiting mail outs.
13. Attend on campus recruiting events such as Fall and Spring Preview Days.
14. Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive recruitment plan to strategically target high-achieving prospective freshman and transfer students.
15. Other responsibilities deemed appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, or other degrees beneficial to position.

1-2 years experience, demonstrated knowledge and experience in student recruiting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with students, parents, or guardians, academic administrators, and faculty. Experience in event planning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Travel in and out of state required.
3. Proficiency in word processing and database management.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work is normally performed in the typical interior / office work environment.
2. No. or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. Proficiency in word processing and database management.
