Position Function:

Performs standard accounting functions such as cost analysis, reconciliation, posting, and inventory control. Analyzes financial and operating data and prepares management reports and financial statements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Oversees the monthly reconciliation of all athletic department procurement cards ensuring departmental and university rules, regulations, and standards are met.
2. Assists in the reconciliation of various athletic department funds.
3. Assist with preparation of the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) financial reports.
4. Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Southeastern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
5. Assists with developing and administering department’s operating budget.
6. Reconciles Athletics Business Office (ABO) petty cash account.
7. Serve as the ABO liaison to various athletic programs and administrative areas.
8. Assist Assistant Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, and Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Financial Officer with projects as assigned.
9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or other appropriate discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certified Public Accountant Certification
2. Certified Management Accountant Certification
3. Working knowledge of Banner.
4. Familiarity with University policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods, and applications.
2. Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
3. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
4. Account balancing and reconciling skills.
5. Ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.
6. Spreadsheet software skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
7. Knowledge of general accounting principles.
8. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
9. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
10. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and majority of work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Externally imposed deadlines, set or revised on short notice, frequent shifts in priority, numerous interruptions requiring immediate attention, unusual pressure on a daily basis due to accountability for success for major projects or areas of operation.
• Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing.
• Job occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
