The Department of Healthcare Administration in the School of Health Professions at Mississippi State University invites applications for a twelve-month administrative appointment as Associate or Full Professor & Head of the Department of Healthcare Administration. As a newly established department and school, we are dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare administration, education and research. We seek a dynamic and visionary leader with a strong academic and research background in healthcare administration and with academic leadership experience to guide our department toward excellence.

Salary Grade:  UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Provides vision and leadership for nationally recognized education and research programs
2) Provides leadership and mentoring to all faculty, staff and students
3) Responsible for overall administration of faculty and support staff activities
4) Responsible for recruitment of students, faculty and support staff
5) Foster the creation of a graduate program in Healthcare Administration and its accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME)
6) Conducts research leading to scholarly publications
7) Works with the Dean of the School of Health Professions and university administration in establishing goals and objectives for the school, department, and in meeting the university missions of teaching, research and service
8) Academic responsibilities include planning, reviewing, and updating the curriculum, academic programs, and course content
9) Personnel responsibilities include promotion and tenure, performance evaluation, and workload management
10) Fiscal responsibilities include preparing and overseeing departmental budget and other budgets for research funding

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related filed.

Must qualify for the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure, and as such, must have earned national recognition by a distinguished record of accomplishments in teaching, research, and service.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting
2) Knowledge of accreditation processes, specifically CAHME
3) Proven ability to engage with healthcare industry stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaborative projects
