Position Function:

The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating education programs in the Division of Education, Meridian Campus. Responsibilities will include advising and assisting students, developing and maintaining partnerships with school districts, coordinating field experiences, and administering other activities as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Recruits students in the Meridian and Eastern Mississippi areas that may qualify and/or be interested in the Division of Education.
2. Assist faculty in education programs.
3. Mentors incoming students and advises them on curriculum and educational pathways.
4. Performs clerical duties which might include entering and organizing data, preparing correspondence, tables, reports, and other materials.
5. Represents the Division of Education in response to inquiries from campus visitors, by e-mail, and by telephone.
6. Establishes, maintain, and updates files, databases, records and/or other documents, develops and maintains data, and performs routine analyses and calculations in the processing of internal reports.
7. Develops and supports classroom mentor teachers.
8. Develops partnerships with area principals or other school administrators to assist with student recruitment efforts.
9. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field and 2 years of related experience in a PK-12 environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree and more than 2 years experience in a PK-12 environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Computer skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Job frequently requires standing, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 10 pounds.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
