Manages and executes complex, often multi-organizational programs for the Advanced Composites Institute. Develops and implements program plans, from beginning through execution and evaluation. Responsible for fiscal, operational, and administrative management of both externally and internally funded programs. Serve as a principal point of representation and liaison with external constituencies on program activities building sustainable relationships with partners to provide program leadership and management.

Department Profile:

The Advanced Composites Institute, or ACI, focuses on pioneering transformational composite technologies in a variety of critical sectors, including aerospace, civil, military, energy, automotive and other emerging markets. It was created at MSU with the donation of a revolutionary stitched composite process and equipment originally developed at NASA by pioneering scientist Marvin B. Dow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Will serve as program director, PI, PI or Co-PI on large externally funded programs.
2. Develop and manage external partner relationships necessary to implement programs benefiting MSU and our mission.
3. May provide program management support for the MSU Advanced Composites Training Center, or other affiliated MSU operations.
4. Oversee and coordinate with program teams across the university as needed.
5. Manages program communications in coordination with MSU communication staff.
6. Provide technical and/or professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day­ to-day program/project activities, as appropriate to program objectives and area of expertise.
7. Develop program and project budget, approve spending, and monitor compliance.
8. Establish program goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
9. Develop program and project reports.
10. Coordinate with Public Affairs to develop press releases and postings on social media accounts.
11. Ensure that executive leadership is informed of impacts, priorities, deadlines, and challenges.
12. Track internal and external contacts and maintain a contact database.
13. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
May supervise others as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Bachelor’s Degree
Experience 6 years Directly related to the job duties and responsibilities specified

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• Workforce development experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a wide variety of internal and external clients.
• Strong written communication skills, including report writing, presentations, email correspondence, and verbal communication skills, particularly in dealing with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in Microsoft applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent calendar management skills and demonstrated history of successfully managing multiple concurrent initiatives.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Requires frequent travel.
• No unusual physical requirements. It requires some lifting of objects less than 50 lbs.
• Frequent externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work without certainty beyond a few days; meeting deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to the position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress regularly.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
