Position Function:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the operational effectiveness of the MSU Foundation and Alumni data systems. This includes donor and gift records, CRM software, file storage systems, communications systems, and other integrated systems within the organization. This position will work as a team member in the Information Services area of the Division of Development and Alumni at Mississippi State University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Support, configure, implement, and integrate software and applications for division information systems
2. Perform technology needs analysis for the organization; Create, program, and manage integrated computer systems to include coordination with outside support when needed
3. Design and help implement web applications to meet departmental needs
4. Design database architecture to support new systems, coordinate and manage conversions to new systems, and conduct user education of new systems
5. Identify inefficiencies and make suggestions based on analysis, system capabilities, and available resources
6. Lead technical projects by developing plans and providing status updates to managers
7. Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related area
- 8 years’ experience in System Administration (including security management, user account management, office system and application support, server management)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Eight years of experience working with SQL Server and related database analysis tools
• Extensive experience with SSRS reports and T-SQL programming
• Strong programming and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for supporting multiple systems at the same time
• Experience with Blackbaud CRM and Blackbaud Internet Solutions
• Knowledge of web programming languages and development
• Experience with utilizing a data warehouse and tools

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Significant experience with all levels of the software development life cycle including requirements gathering, systems design, systems development/programming, testing, deployment, and maintenance of large enterprise systems
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and developing touchpoints between enterprise and ancillary applications
- A highly developed understanding of web services, APl's, and other integration technologies
- Significant customer service experience
- Experience working in a team and project driven environment
- Experience in advanced MS Operating Systems
- Knowledge of web page development and server administration
- Ability to diagnose and resolve PC hardware and software problems

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Typical office environment. Little exposure to physical risk. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of up 25 pounds. May include walking or standing for periods of time during a day. Occasional after-hours requirements may be necessary.
