Position Function:
The Web Developer will apply systems analysis and design techniques to support both new and existing software applications and database systems at MASEP within the Social Science Research Center (SSRC). Assess and define software and technical specifications. Provide analysis, development, and implementation support for both new and ongoing projects. This position is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, security, backup, support, and maintenance of the MOSES information system and its database backend.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, test, and maintain application software to meet technical and functional requirements.
2. Modify existing programs to improve performance or accommodate changes.
3. Ensure code quality, efficiency, and compliance with established standards.
4. Analyze technical and functional specifications to design effective program logic and database structures.
5. Prepare test data, validate software accuracy, and ensure system integrity.
6. Manage small-scale applications or subsystems within larger projects.
7. Evaluate priorities, work independently, and meet project deadlines.
8. Adapt to evolving work processes and complete other assigned duties.
9. Create and maintain clear technical documentation and user instructions.
10. Provide technical support to MASEP staff, students, and end-users, resolving issues promptly.
11. Communicate effectively with team members, system administrators, and IT stakeholders.
12. Stay current with emerging IT trends and recommend applicable technologies or process improvements.
13. Demonstrate strong work ethics and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
14. Proven experience with databases, including report generation and front-end web interfaces linked to databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering,
or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Priority will be given to candidates with experience developing and implementing database driven information systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Require proficiency in writing frontend code using JavaScript libraries such as AngularjS.
2. Require proficiency working with any one of Node.js frameworks (Meteor.js, Sails.js, Express.js).
3. Require proficiency programming with relational and non-relational databases (preferably PSQl, Mongo).
4. Require proficiency using software project management tools such as Github.
5. Prefer candidates with understanding of using visualization packages such as Highcharts, D3.js or ggplot and spatial mapping libraries such as leaflet, Google maps.
6. Have working knowledge in writing code using Python libraries, such as Pandas, Numpy, matplotlib, scikit.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to plan and organize, personal initiative, demonstrated ability to perform with professionalism and produce quality, reliable results.
8. Previous experience with data modeling and/or developing systems in a Linux environment.
