Position Function:

Under general supervision, provides parking services, public relations services, enforcement of parking regulations, and traffic control throughout campus. Assists with special events parking arrangements.

Salary Grade:  10

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Patrols by walking assigned sections of the university campus for the purpose of enforcing parking rules and regulations.
2. Ensure that vehicles are parked in approved parking locations.
3. Operate (LPR) License Plate Recognition vehicles and computer system to track parking lot occupancy and to enforce parking policy compliance.
4. Enforces parking rules by issuing hand-written or computer-generated parking tickets.
5. Occasionally directs traffic, stations traffic post, and assists in other departmental procedures as required.
6. Installs and removes wheel locks on vehicles.
7. Notifies supervisor daily of parking conditions and problem areas.
8. Provides information and other general assistance to the university community and its visitors.
9. Assist with parking and traffic for campus events, including game day activities.
10. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Transportation Specialist –
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Ability to operate computer keyboard to enter data.

Senior Transportation Specialist –
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. 4 years Transportation experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to observe, assess, and record hazardous conditions in parking areas/structures.
2. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
3. Knowledge of public events safety and crowd control principles, procedures, regulations, and standards.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Ability to observe, assess, and record hazardous conditions in parking areas/structures.
2. Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds or more occasionally.
3. Ability to continuously get in and out of vehicles throughout the day.
4. Knowledge of public events safety and crowd control principles, procedures, regulations, and standards.
5. Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
6. Required to stand on feet 95% of time when performing duties.
