Position Function:
Oversees the daily operations and function of the Extension Print and Publications Supply area for Mississippi State University Extension Service.

Department Profile:
The Office of Agricultural Communications provides communications, leadership, products and services for the MSU Extension Service and the Division of Agriculture, Forestry & Veterinary Medicine and select organizations. Our personnel include Photographers, Videographers, Social Media, Graphic Designers and a Print Shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Print Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Extension Print Shop, Publications & Supply Distribution, AV Reference Room, and Extension warehouse and serves as Extension Mail Officer. The Print Manager will have management responsibilities for all employees and equipment within those functions. The manager assures those functions provide timely turnaround of job orders and requests.
The manager is responsible for planning the acquisition of all supplies and materials, maintenance contracts, and the replacement and upgrade of equipment for those areas. The manager will work with the Head of Agricultural Communications in planning for the future of the Print Shop and ways to increase service and value to our internal customers.
The manager works closely with others in Agricultural Communications and coordinates with professionals at the state, regional, and county levels of the Extension organization.
The manager must be competent in cost estimation, charge back systems, printing and related technology and techniques, equipment operation, and other aspects of the profession.
The manager represents the organization at technical conferences and other printing association meetings held at local, regional, and national levels. The manager also represents the organization at in-service training sessions held for Extension employees.
The manager maintains administration of the online store/ordering system for the Print Shop (currently Pressero) and the Inventory Control Management system & Print on Demand (currently Oracle).
The manager is the Project Coordinator for all Print Shop projects using project management software (Currently Workzone). This includes communication with clients and potential clients, accepting jobs, timing of accepted jobs, obtaining billing information, ensuring correct invoicing/billing of the completed jobs, and updating the project status.
The manager reports to the Head of Agricultural Communications and interfaces daily with supervisors and employees of other support units and Division of Agriculture departments.
Supervisory Responsibility
Full supervisory responsibility for other employees is a major responsibility and includes training, evaluating performance, and making or recommending pay, promotion or other employment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in print shop operations including
customer service
An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience spec’ing and estimating jobs for printing/duplication. Knowledge of paper and other consumables. Shipping/mailing experience. Experience in University-wide Banner reporting system
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong Background in Management- specifically Project Management, Billing, Invoicing
Previous computer-related experience.
Strong customer-service skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Job frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, .
Job occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically, ability to distinguish colors.
