Position Function:

Develop and maintain websites as well as carrying out print and electronic publication production activities associated with the research and Extension educational programs of the Southern Rural Development Center. Publication products are targeted to land-grant university administrators and faculty, agencies/analysts, federal/state policymakers and the general public. A primary responsibility is to manage, strengthen and enhance SRDC’s digital presence and coordinate external communications.

Salary Grade:  14

Department Profile:

The Southern Rural Development Center seeks to strengthen the capacity of the region's 30 land-grant institutions to address critical contemporary rural development issues impacting the well-being of people and communities in the rural South.

Anticipated Appointment Date:

June 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Maintain, update, and troubleshoot SRDC and related websites; ensure content meets accessibility standards; monitor trends and recommend/implement enhancements.
- Create and manage digital content, including social media engagement, monthly e-newsletter development/distribution, and email list maintenance.
- Serve as Artificial Intelligence Liaison for the center
- Design and produce branded communications materials for regional and national audiences, including web/print publications, logos/branding, agendas, one-page briefs, curricula, graphics, and conference/training support materials.
- Produce, record, edit, market, and provide technical support for SRDC hosted webinars
- Collaborate with SRDC leadership and communications teams across the other three Regional Rural Development Centers to develop coordinated marketing/communications resources (websites, brochures, displays, etc.) that highlight innovative research and Extension programs.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of meetings, training, and workshops for the department.
- Work with vendors to produce various materials
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
-Moderate travel is required

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in communications, graphic design, public relations, or closely related fields.

One (1) year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in communications or related field.

Experience in providing communications and administrative support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
- Experience Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Experience in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Experience with communications software including Zoom, WebEx , Teams, etc.
- Experience with social media management and content creation
- Ability to effectively manage time and schedules
- Knowledge of server platforms regarding Web site development (Drupal and Dreamweaver)
- Knowledge of video editing and video conference platforms
- Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Evidence of relevant coursework in web development/design

*Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

* Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
*This position requires in state and out of state travel.
