Position Function:
The Coordinator of the Luckyday Scholars Program is responsible for collaborating with the Luckyday staff in the provision of student-centered program support and daily operations. Reporting to the Director of the Luckyday Scholars Program, the Coordinator assists with the operational implementation of a four-year student development program that empowers scholars through academic support, community building initiatives, leadership development, and service opportunities. The Coordinator is eligible for all benefits as a state of Mississippi employee.
Salary Grade: 14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Development and Engagement:
1. Connects scholars with program, campus, and community opportunities that align with program values
2. Serves as a community liaison to align student programming with community needs
3. Assists with the general oversight of program initiatives, including student committees, mentor programs, and the program seminar class
4. Fosters a welcoming environment in the Luckyday Administrative Suite through intentional interactions and maintenance of the space
5. Provides ongoing mentorship and coaching to students, empowering them to set goals, overcome challenges, and maximize their potential
6. Monitors student compliance with academic and service requirements, under the guidance of the Director and Assistant Director
7. Coordinates student-facing academic and service meetings to ensure that students maintain good-standing within the Luckyday Scholars Program
8. Organizes and facilitates events and programming that promote student engagement
9. Executes program communications through social media content, e-mail, and app-based platforms
10. Participates in campus collaboration and outreach events that benefit current and prospective scholars
11. Assists with general office administration tasks
12. Performs other related duties as required or assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field OR a Bachelor’s degree paired with relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with students in individual and group settings
2. Experience in event planning and communications management
3. Experience working with multiple groups and individuals in a large-scale setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Program Coordination: Ability to coordinate and execute high-impact student programming that fosters personal and group development
2. Mentorship and Coaching: Strong interpersonal skills for supporting students in their academic, personal, and professional growth
3. Technology Proficiency: Ability to effectively navigate various technology platforms, including Microsoft 365, Canva, Canvas, Banner, etc.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Frequent walking, sitting, reaching, and handling objects
• Exposure to deadlines, interruptions, and emotionally sensitive situations
• Ability to occasionally work weekends or extended hours
