Position Function:

Responsible for management of the verification process; importing student aid reports; special circumstance appeals; dependent appeals; supervision of staff involved with processing student verification.; coordinate with IT at the beginning of each term to ensure all reports are generated on a timely schedule; stay up to date on all federal regulations as they apply to the verification process. Manage front line staff including calls, walk-in and communications.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the awarding of all initial federal funds;
• Determines student eligibility;
• Complete Verification and c-Flags
• Make awards to all eligible students in a timely manner;
• Manages the over-awards report;
• Stay up to date on all federal regulations as they apply to the awarding of all federal/state aid
2. Manage student communications that include; outgoing mass emails; phone calls to the main line; award letters, cost worksheets, text messages; and walk-in students
3. Manage front reception area to ensure accurate processing of financial aid documents, to make sure phone calls and emails are answered in a prompt and courteous manner and to provide the highest level of customer service to walk-ins as the first contacts to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
4. Counsel students and parents concerning the availability of state, federal, and institutional student financial assistance funds
5. Oversee maintenance and updates to the Financial Aid and Scholarship website and social media accounts
6. Works with Void reports to determine if additional aid can be administered to prevent the student’s schedule from being voided.
7. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Financial Aid Department.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position will supervise exempt and non-exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum
Education Bachelor’s Degree

Experience (yrs.) Strong student orientation with five to eight years or pertinent work experience.

AND

One to three years staff management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Business, Higher Education or related field and prior management experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff members with a high degree of professionalism
2. Working knowledge of methods and procedures used in collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data.
3. Ability to understand and apply financial aid criteria
4. Strong attention to detail and understand the importance of confidentiality

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. No or very limited physical effort is required.

Instructor will also serve on Undergraduate Studies Committee and aid in Undergraduate Curriculum development.
