Position Function:

This position will work as a team member in Enterprise Information Systems at Mississippi State University. The Software Developer supports the University community by developing, coordinating, and managing enterprise application software systems and enterprise data by providing critical information services to our clients.

Salary Grade:  16

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain custom programming to assist with internal processes and import/export data to/from MSU’s ERP system (Banner).
• Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about Banner and related Enterprise Applications.
• Create and maintain documentation that describes programs, operating procedures, and installations, including but not limited to, internal knowledge base, solutions, and project updates.
• Assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of Ellucian products and integrated software to third party systems.
• Stay updated on industry-wide changes, participate in technical user groups, and attend relevant training classes.
• Research and solve problems both independently and as a member of a team.
• Monitor, track, and report project risks, issues, milestones, and work completed.
• Consult with administrators to gather information to evaluate procedures and business needs.
• Identify inefficiencies and makes suggestions based on analysis, system capabilities and available resources.
• Continually upgrade knowledge of new tools and technologies.
• Lead technical projects by developing plans and providing status updates to managers.
• Train end users and technical support staff to use a wide variety of Enterprise Applications.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members.

Supervisory Responsibility:
None

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related area from an accredited institution AND 4 years of relevant work experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in full system lifecycle development including requirements gathering, systems design, systems development/programming, testing, deployment, and maintenance of large enterprise systems.
• Experience analyzing and developing touchpoints between enterprise applications and ancillary applications; developing an understanding of web services, API’s, and other integration technologies.
• Significant customer service experience.

Any equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Ellucian Banner systems.
• Four years’ experience working in enterprise systems in the higher education environment.
• Four years’ experience working with Oracle SQL and related database analysis tools.
• Extensive Experience with SQL and PL/SQL programming.
