Position Function:
Manages a variety of activities, projects, grants, and requests for services from external clients and customers, as well as internal MSU and Advanced Composites Institute (ACI) related projects. The project manager will plan and implement projects associated with advanced manufacturing, resin infusion, and workforce training and development. This position will be primarily focused on our industry-related partners like Boeing, Aurora Flight Sciences, and Northrop Grumman as well as our long-standing research efforts with the Federal Aviation Administration. Secondary to industry facing projects, this individual will assist with the Mississippi Advanced Composites Training Center co-located at the East Mississippi Communiversity and play a key role in the operations of the ACI service center. This individual may be required to manage and lead a team as necessary to complete the project. The projects are manufacturing-related and will require working in a cross-functional team environment where multiple priorities and deadlines must be managed simultaneously.
Salary Grade: 15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and monitor project progress, plans, and schedule.
2. Plan, organize, promote, facilitate, and coordinate events, including meetings, workshops, and presentations necessary for project completion.
3. Collaborate with ACI staff and external clients in coordinating and managing projects. These clients include industry partners, internal stakeholders, and other MSU departments.
4. Serve as liaison between technical and business teams to ensure seamless execution of work
5. Assist in ensuring all ACI projects and activities follow federal, state, and university policies and regulations.
6. Attend regular Boeing project meetings with the technical team.
7. Lead internal ACI meetings to update cross-functional teams and promote project progress.
8. Responsible for recognizing the need for contract or budget revisions and facilitating the process to ensure completion
9. Manage daily financial activities including budget preparation, planning, and management. This will include communication with the customer and other MSU departments.
10. Responsible for loading proposal data into Cayuse portal for submission to Grants.gov.
11. Monitor adherence to budgets.
12. Responsible for creation of service center invoices as deliverables are completed.
13. Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.
14. Assist in monthly financial statement review and reconciliation.
15. Process, monitor, and manage grants and contracts awarded to ACI.
16. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree: Business or related discipline
Experience (yrs.):
Three years directly related to the job duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in a manufacturing environment
2. Working knowledge of AS9100 certification and best practices
3. Experience with MSU grants and contracts processes
4. Master’s degree in a related field

3. Ability to work autonomously and independently to manage the project. Experience with planning and managing project budgets and reporting.

6. Knowledge of contracts and grants preparation and management.
7. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
8. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
9. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
10. Ability to organize and manage projects and prepare a written plan with objectives, actions, milestones, budgets, and timelines.
11. Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, or Windows-based operating environment.
