Salary Grade/Salary Minimum:
ICET has a longstanding collaboration with the U.S Army Corp of Engineers Development and Research Center and the Department of Energy to develop technologies for monitoring, clearing and managing of depleted uranium contaminated facilities. Scientists and engineers at ICET have a wide experience in developing technologies for the management and control of radioactive material. Technologies include radiological surveying platforms, soil remediation test beds, and subsurface detection systems. ICET also maintains a large array of radiological detection capabilities and facilities for evaluating the performance or detection instrumentation
Area of Specialization:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing custom software solutions from conception, design, implementation, testing and use on a variety of platforms
Provide technical guidance and assistance to researchers in the specification and development of custom software under rigorous software quality requirements
Develop software test plans and perform software testing
Research Engineer I - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Less than one year experience n a related area.
Research Engineer II - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Two years of professional experience in a related area; Requires two years at previous level or equivalent.
Research Engineer III - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Four years of professional experience in a related area; Requires two years at previous level or equivalent.
Solid background in software engineering and development (C#, C++, .NET, Python, Java, HTML, etc.)
Knowledge of software development process and life-cycle
Knowledge of database development
Experience with the development and implementation of software quality assurance methods and procedures
Experience with front-end and back-end development including design, development and testing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
Experience with system administration of Linux and Windows platforms
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
Job frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
